Raritan Township

The township of Raritan, New Jersey, is a beautiful rural area where residents find peace and comfort in the brisk clean air and embrace a casual lifestyle. Close to Flemington Borough in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, it encompasses approximately 40 square miles with an approximate population of 22,720.

Many parks grace the area, including Lenape Park. Located one mile south of the township’s Police Station, 5,200 feet of walking trail are dotted with picnic tables complete with grills. For children of all ages, the park also offers a tot play lot, four little league fields, three girls’ softball fields, two major league fields, four soccer fields and four basketball courts. The focus on community and family is evident by the newly-built pavilion, as well as Mine Brook Park, Morales Nature Preserve, Lone Cedar Park/Nature Preserve, which has 62 acres open for the enjoyment of the nature enthusiast. Benches located throughout the trail offer rest and bird watching. Blackwell Park is located on the corner of Everitts Road and Lavada Lane, and was opened in the spring of 2009.

Flemington-Raritan Regional School District offers kindergarten through eighth grade, with four elementary schools in the district, including Barley Sheaf School, Copper Hill School, Francis A. Desmares School and Robert Hunter School, educating more than 2,000 students. Grades five and six attend the Readington-Flemington Intermediate School. Students in grades seven and eight attend J.P. Case Middle School in Flemington. Serving almost 2,800 students from Delaware Township, East Amwell, Flemington, and Readington along with students from Raritan, Hunterdon Central Regional High School is attended by students in grades nine through twelve.

Route 202 runs through Raritan and parts of Flemington making it convenient to travel in and out of this township. State Highways 12 and 31 also intersects in Raritan and if you travel North on 31 you will reach Interstate 78 a major roadway in the state.
